I had a mixed experience at the Hotel Del Coronado. The location is stunning with beautiful ocean views and immediate beach access, which I absolutely loved. However, my room left much to be desired with cleanliness issues and lack of proper maintenance. I also found the food options rather overpriced and lackluster, which detracted from my overall impression.

My room had a great view of the Pacific, but it was not clean and showed its age with mildew and old fixtures. The bathroom was tiny and the furnishings were in disarray.

While the staff seemed friendly and willing to assist, my experience was marred by a lack of proper responses to my concerns during my stay. They struggled with guest feedback and it impacted my overall satisfaction.

The hotel is undergoing renovations, which is necessary, but it caused disruptions during my stay. The gym was one highlight that I appreciated, providing solid workout options.

6.6/10

My recent stay at Hotel Del Coronado was a mix of charm and disappointment. While I loved the historical architecture and stunning ocean views, the service left much to be desired, and the ongoing renovations impacted my experience. Although I enjoyed the live music and landscaping, the inconvenience of finding my room and the noise from construction made it less relaxing.

Rooms

The room was small and had a lovely ocean view, but I was also greeted by construction sights nearby. The amenities felt basic for a high-end hotel.
Service

While I experienced some friendly staff interactions, the check-in process was frustrating, and I encountered a lack of communication regarding my room availability.

Dining options were plentiful, and I enjoyed the delicious meals, though they leaned towards the pricey side for what was offered.

The amenities were a mixed bag; while some areas were well-maintained, I found parts of the facility lacking, particularly during busy times.

6.2/10

My stay at Hotel Del Coronado had its highlights and lowlights. The historic charm and beachfront location were definitely appealing, but the pricing at the restaurants felt excessive, and the service at times left much to be desired. While I loved basking in the sun and enjoying the beautiful ocean views, the room I had didn't quite live up to the expectations for the price I paid.

Rooms
6.0
I was disappointed by my room's location. It was noisy, as it faced a busy entry door, and there was a construction view that blocked any chance for a relaxing experience. The furnishings felt outdated, and overall, it didn’t reflect the premium price I paid for a stay here.
Service
5.0
While some staff were friendly, I had an unpleasant encounter when trying to use a beach cabana. A staff member was incredibly rude and raised his voice, which was quite distressing for my family. It certainly overshadowed the otherwise pleasant interactions I had with other staff.
Location

The hotel's location is amazing, right by the beach. I loved the ease of access to sunbathing and swimming, but the surrounding sounds and the loading dock view from my room detracted from the experience slightly. Still, it's a short Uber ride to downtown San Diego, which is a big plus.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were varied but not impressive given the high price points. I felt like the limited menu options made it hard to find something appealing, and even basic items were overpriced. You definitely need to budget extra for meals if you stay here.
Facilities
5.0
The beach access was fantastic, but I found the pool area underwhelming. Although there's plenty of activities available on-site, the facilities seemed cramped and not really up to par with the hotel's reputation. I expected more from such a historic and upscale hotel.

My stay at Hotel del Coronado was marked by both charm and disappointment. The historic architecture truly stands out, and I loved the beach access, but I faced issues with my room's cleanliness and amenities due to ongoing renovations. The beautiful views were overshadowed by construction noise, which was quite distracting during the day.

Rooms

I was disappointed with the room I received, which had a view obstructed by construction and was not properly cleaned. It felt outdated, leading to an underwhelming experience for the price paid.

While the staff put in a good effort to assist me during my stay, the overall management of the situation regarding the construction and cleanliness left much to be desired.
Location

The hotel’s location is stunning, right by the beach, making it perfect for enjoying the sun. However, the constant flow of tourists undermined the sense of tranquility I was hoping for.
Dining

Dining options were limited, and the prices were absolutely outrageous. I spent over $160 for a simple lunch, which seemed excessive for the quality provided.
Facilities

Although the hotel offers several amenities, the ongoing renovations impacted my access to certain facilities and overall experience, detracting from the luxury typically expected.

I was excited to stay at the iconic Hotel Del Coronado, drawn in by its stunning Victorian architecture and beautiful beach access. However, my experience was marred by poor service and disappointing room conditions. While the hotel's exterior and history are undeniably charming, the lack of attention to guest needs made my stay frustrating.

Rooms
5.0
My Victorian King suite had potential with a lovely view of the bay, yet the bathroom was small and in need of updating. The drains were slow and the mattresses seemed outdated. I expected more comfort given the premium price.
Service
5.0
I encountered long waits for check-in and room service. No one seemed to acknowledge my concerns about the service, and simple requests took far too long to fulfill. This lack of responsiveness was quite disappointing.
Location
Dining

Dining at Sheerwater was underwhelming. The breakfast buffet lacked variety and quantity. Even though I enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, the food and service did not meet my expectations given the high prices.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel facilities are beautiful but showing signs of age and disrepair. The pool area was unkempt, and basic amenities like towels were often unavailable when needed. I think this hotel can do much better to maintain its grandeur.
